Little Sister of Project Coffee, but still as good.
I still get a scone here but you can get other sweets or even a breakfast here. The earl grey teas are nice with a scone but if you like coffee - go for it!
The seating makes me nervous. I don't what is but I wasn't confortable being in the middle of the room right next to the cash point. I just felt I was in the way of the flow of people as I kept getting knocked. Perhaps a rethink of seating arrangements but other than that a plesent experience of an epic scone with jam and cream! -

Not all too long ago, I sat in for tea here and it was perfectly fine; a nice way to kill time before catching the bus home.
Recently I popped in for a cheese scone to go and found it to be flavourless, other than a giant mound of melted cheese on top. The lady behind the counter had asked if I'd like butter. I said yes, but I really wish I'd said no. - All I could taste was butter, sickeningly so. It was spread on much too thick. A scone ruined by butter; the most tragic of baked goods.
If there's a scone on offer, I'm your girl. - Cheese, fruit, plain. Unfortunately, there's many scone providers in Edinburgh which I'd pick over this one. -

Blackwood is a slightly better and less pretentiously cool version of their sister cafe Project Coffee. You're guaranteed a decent coffee or pot of tea. The service is fine, definitely friendlier than Project (which isn't difficult). The baked goods are ok, but nothing amazing. It's a nice place for a quick coffee on a street with lots of other coffee shops that aren't necessarily an improvement on Blackwood.

We just popped in for a latte and some tea. So Ill have to come back again and review it. But really friendly service! I enjoyed my latte! Made with a nice smooth soya milk ( sometimes the soya milk places uses ruins the drink!) And the espresso was nice and dark , just how I like it. Cute set up. I saw people having some soup and smaller foods, that looked nice. More a coffee shop with needles, rather then a cafe. Which can be good if you just looking for a drink and a table to chat for a bit =)

New Year's Day walk lead to a stroll along morningside way took me and Steph here. They were one of the only places to be open so expectations were not high.
Saying that it was actually really good. We had a tea and a coffee as well as a scone, was less that £6 and was good home-baked standard. Well worth a visit I would say.
